Getting to the Riksdag

The Riksdag is situated on Helgeandsholmen in central Stockholm. This page contains information about how to get to the Riksdag and about the various entrances to the Riksdag.

Information about security

Please arrive in good time when you are visiting the Riksdag. All visitors are to bring valid identification with them and, where relevant, their invitation to a meeting in order to facilitate their entry. All visitors are required to go through a security check at the entrance.

A security check is also carried out when you visit the Riksdag Library.

The decision regarding security checks will apply until 31 October 2022, unless otherwise decided.

The map shows the entrances to the West Wing of the Riksdag (RV) and the East Wing of the Riksdag (RÖ) which are open to visitors:

A. Riksgatan 1. Main entrance.
B. Riksgatan 2.
C. Riksgatan 3. Public entrance to the Public Gallery of the Chamber, guided tours, and school and study visits.
D. Norrbro 1A, Riksplan. Entrance to the public gallery of the former Second Chamber.
E. Norrbro 1B, Riksplan. Entrance to the public gallery of the former First Chamber.

1. The Bank Hall.
2. The Chamber.
3. The former First Chamber.
4. The former Second Chamber.

Getting to the Riksdag

By bus: The closest bus stops are Tegelbacken, Gustav Adolfs torg, Kungsträdgården/Karl XII:s torg, Riddarhustorget and Slottsbacken. It takes between 5 and 10 minutes to walk from these bus stops to the Riksdag.

Metro: The closest metro stations are T-Centralen, Gamla stan and Kungsträdgården. It takes between 5 and 15 minutes to walk from these stations to the Riksdag.

Train: It takes approximately 10 to 15 minutes to walk to the Riksdag from Stockholm Central Station.

Accessibility in the Riksdag

The Riksdag Administration takes ongoing measures to improve accessibility so that everyone can visit the Riksdag without obstructions. Here you will find information about step-free entrances, technical aids such as hearing loops, and how to book a guided tour with interpretation into sign language.
