There were long queues to the Riksdag during this year’s Stockholm Culture Night. It is estimated that around 4,700 people visited the Riksdag this year.
There was a broad programme at the Riksdag during Stockholm Culture Night with themes such as the Riksdag today and the Riksdag from a historical perspective. In the East Wing of the Riksdag, visitors could learn more about the history of the Riksdag in the former chambers of the bicameral parliament from 1905.
Another item on the programme was entitled the Riksdag today and took place in the West Wing. Here you could learn about the Riksdag’s fundamental tasks and visit the Public Gallery of the Chamber. A video was shown there about the work of the Chamber.
In the Riksdag Library, the theme was the Riksdag in words and images. There were also discussions about politics and culture throughout the evening. In the Library, visitors had the opportunity to write with a real quill pen and look at the Library's large collection of political cartoons and caricatures.
