A new Government has taken office

On 30 November, a new Government took office with Magdalena Andersson (Social Democratic Party) as Prime Minister. The formal change of government took place at a Council of State at the Royal Palace.

On Tuesday 30 November Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson (Social Democratic Party) presented the Statement of Government Policy at the Riksdag. It sets out the objectives of Government policy. The Statement of Government Policy can be watched on demand via the Riksdag webcast service.

Today, 22 November, the Speaker Andreas Norlén has proposed that the Riksdag appoint as Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson (Social Democratic Party), who intends to form a government consisting of representatives of the Social Democratic Party and the Green Party.

The Speaker has received a progress report from Magdalena Andersson

On 11 November, the Speaker Andreas Norlén gave Magdalena Andersson (Social Democratic Party) the task of exploring the possibilities of forming a government that can be tolerated by the Riksdag. On 16 November, the task was prolonged, and today, the Speaker and Magdalena Andersson have conferred by telephone on the progress of the task. As previously announced, Magdalena Andersson is to report on the final outcome of her task by Monday 22 November at the latest. The time has been changed to 12 noon.
