The Riksdag votes in favour of banning orders at public swimming pools and libraries

The Riksdag has voted in favour of a proposal from the Government to introduce the possibility of imposing banning orders at public swimming pools and libraries.

A banning order means that a person may be banned from visiting certain premises and certain places - even if it is a place to which the public has access. The reasons for imposing a banning order may, for example, include sexual violations, crime or public disturbances.

The amendments will come into force on 1 July 2022.
