The Government's actions in relation to Swedes who have been detained should be evaluated

The Riksdag would like an independent commission of inquiry to evaluate the Government's actions to promote the release of the Swedish citizens Dawit Isaak and Gui Minhai. The Riksdag therefore calls on the Government to act on this by way of an announcement.

The commission is to present its findings no later than 31 March 2022.

The announcement is based on a committee initiative from the Committee on Foreign Affairs, which was initiated in connection with the consideration of some 23 proposals relating to freedom of expression in motions from the general private members' motions period 2018, 2019 and 2020.

A committee initiative means that the initiative for a proposal comes from a committee, rather than from a government bill or a private member's motion.

The Riksdag voted partially in favour of several motions on the Government's actions in relation to Swedes who have been detained abroad. The Riksdag voted against the other proposals that were considered.
