The Riksdag voted in favour of the Government's proposal regarding a new act on temporary communicable disease control measures at venues serving food and drink.
The act establishes that anyone running a venue that serves food and drink, such as a restaurant, bar or café, is responsible for taking certain measures to prevent the spread of the virus responsible for COVID-19.
The municipal committee responsible for environmental and public health protection will also be responsible for supervision in this area. The committee will be able to communicate the orders and bans necessary to ensure compliance with the rules in the act. If necessary, the committee shall consult the regional communicable disease control consultant. The county administrative board will provide support, advice and guidance to the municipalities in the county.
The act will come into force on 1 July 2020, and will cease to apply on 31 December 2020.
