The Speaker receives the President of the Norwegian Parliament

On 17–19 September, the Speaker Andreas Norlén received the President of the Storting – the Norwegian Parliament – Tone Wilhelmsen Trøen, during her official visit to Sweden.

Matters concerning Nordic and European cooperation, democracy-building and gender equality were in focus during the visit. Among others, the Norwegian delegation met the Riksdag Board's Working Group on Gender Equality, led by the First and Second Deputy Speakers Åsa Lindestam (Social Democratic Party) and Lotta Johnsson Fornarve (Left Party). The President of the Storting also participated in democracy celebrations arranged by the Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions.

Discussion about young people's influence

Education, child and youth policy and young people's influence were in focus when the Norwegian delegation met members of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, the Committee on Cultural Affairs, the presidium of the Swedish Delegation to the Nordic Council and the Chair of the Parliamentary Friendship Association. The delegation also had a working meeting with the Committee on Education. The day was concluded with a study visit to the Fryshuset youth centre, where the delegation was given a presentation of activities through a tour and discussions with young people.
