Set times for the change of government

On Friday 18 January, the Riksdag voted in favour of the Speaker Andreas Norlén's proposal to appoint Stefan Löfven (Social Democratic Party) as Prime Minister. The change of government will take place on Monday 21 January.

This press information is being issued jointly by the Royal Court of Sweden, the Riksdag and the Government Offices of Sweden.

Statement of Government Policy

On Monday 21 January at 11 a.m., the Prime Minister will deliver a Statement of Government Policy in the Chamber. He will also announce the names of the ministers in his new Government. The Prime Minister will then hold a press briefing in the Grand Gallery, East Wing of the Riksdag, at 12 noon at the earliest. Media representatives will require accreditation from the Riksdag.

Photo opportunity at Riksplan

There will be a photo opportunity at Riksplan when the incoming Government leaves the Riksdag to walk to the Royal Palace, at approximately 1.45 p.m. Please take your places by 1.30 p.m., entry via the southern Helgeand stairway (Helgeandstrappan). Media representatives will require accreditation from the Riksdag.

Council of State

The formal change of government will take place at a special Council of State at the Royal Palace, which will be chaired by H.M. The King. H.R.H. Crown Princess Victoria, the Speaker and the new Government will all be present. Pool for photography, filming and sound recording.

Accreditation (there are a limited number of places): Via e-mail to the Information Department at the Royal Court of Sweden. Press@royalcourt.se no later than 8 a.m. on Monday. Media wishing to attend the Council of State are to gather at Mynttorget at 1.15 p.m.

Photo opportunity on the Lejonbacken Terrace

There will be a photo opportunity for accredited media representatives after the Council of State on the Lejonbacken Terrace at 3.15 p.m. Entry via Mynttorget between 2.30 and 3 p.m.

Photo opportunity at the Government Offices

There will be a photo opportunity when the Government arrives at the Government Offices. Time: 3.40 p.m. Place: The inner courtyard outside the Adelcrantzska building. Entry via Kopparporten, Rödbogatan 6 between 3 and 3.30 p.m.
