Speaker to meet representatives of the parties on Monday 15 October

Published: 15 October 2018 at 14.43

The Speaker of the Riksdag Andreas Norlén will continue his talks with the representatives of the parties in the Riksdag on 15 October.

"At my meeting with Ulf Kristersson, he informed me that at present he does not see any conditions that will enable him to obtain support for a government that can be tolerated by the Riksdag. Ulf Kristersson therefore wishes to terminate the task he has been given to explore possibilities of forming a government. I am keen to see a process with broad support and have therefore called for new talks with representatives of the parties. It is also important to ensure that the work continues to progress; the talks will therefore take place right away tomorrow," says the Speaker Andreas Norlén.

The Speaker will speak to the representatives of the Riksdag parties individually on Monday. The Speaker will then confer with the Deputy Speakers and at 4.30 p.m. inform the Head of State on the progress regarding his assignment of presenting a proposal for a new prime minister.
