The Speaker Andreas Norlén has given Annie Lööf (Centre Party) the task of exploring the possibilities of forming a government that can be tolerated by the Riksdag. A final account is to be given to the Speaker by 22 November at the latest.
"This task is somewhat different from the previous ones. The parties have already held many talks and my assessment is that it can be completed within a week, but naturally with the possibility of an extension if justifiable. The framework of the task is broad, both in terms of possible party constellations and as regards the post of prime minister", says Andreas Norlén.
On Thursday 27 September, the Speaker started the assignment of preparing a proposal for a new Prime Minister for the Riksdag to take a stand on. The assignment includes interview rounds with representatives of all the parties in the Riksdag and deliberations with the Deputy Speakers. The Speaker is also keeping King Carl XVI Gustaf informed of the situation regarding the assignment of presenting a proposal for a new Prime Minister.
On 14 November, the Riksdag put the proposal for Ulf Kristersson (Moderate Party) as prime minister to the vote. The outcome was 195 votes against and 154 votes in favour of the proposal.
