Speaker leads delegation to Germany

On 25 – 27 June, the Speaker Urban Ahlin led a delegation of members of the Riksdag during an official visit to Germany. The agenda included a meeting with the President of the German Parliament (Bundestag) Wolfgang Schäuble.
The Speaker Urban Ahlin also met with Germany’s Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier. The delegation also held meetings with Ralf Wieland (SPD), President of the Berlin Abgeordnetenhaus, or state parliament, Michael Roth (SPD), junior minister responsible for European policy, and members of the Bundestag.
Issues on the agenda during the visit included the future of the EU, the economy and migration.
On Tuesday, the Speaker held a speech during a seminar at the European Council on Foreign Relations with the theme “Time to fight back? – How Europeans can defend the rules-based order”.
The delegation included Riksdag members Krister Örnfjäder and Erik Ezelius (Social Democratic Party), Lars Hjälmered and Margareta Cederfelt (Moderate Party), Markus Wiechel (Sweden Democrats) and Deputy Secretary-General of the Riksdag Claes Mårtensson.
