The Aliens Act and Passport Act are to be amended. In the future, aliens will be obliged to allow photographs and fingerprints to be taken when undergoing entry and exit checks, to enable verification of their identity and travel documents.

This already applies to Swedish citizens. The Riksdag voted in favour of the Government's proposal.

The new regulations will come into force on 01 March 2018. The changes are being made to adapt to EU regulations that apply to people crossing borders within the Schengen area.
