Swedish participation in NATO's training and advice mission, the Resolute Support Mission, in Afghanistan is to be extended. The Riksdag voted in favour of Sweden's continued participation in 2019.
Swedish forces on location in Afghanistan are to consist of a maximum of 50 people. If the situation demands, it will be possible to add a temporary reinforcement and evacuation force consisting of a maximum of 150 people. The aim of the mission is to support Afghan security forces with training and support in order to strengthen the forces' capability to independently manage the country's security.
