The Riksdag has voted in favour of the Government's proposal on Swedish participation in the UN mission in Mali, MINUSMA. Sweden already participates in the UN mission, with the purpose of contributing to enhanced security in Mali, to Mali's Government regaining control of the entire country and to supporting long-term, sustainable solutions to the crisis in the country.

The Government wants to make a Swedish armed force available, consisting of at most 470 persons, for participation in the mission in Mali. Sweden's participation will apply until 30 June 2018, on condition that the mandate for the force continues to be approved by the UN Security Council.
