Chairman of the Georgian parliament visits the Riksdag

The Speaker Urban Ahlin received Irakli Kobakhidze, Chairman of the Georgian Parliament, during his official visit to Sweden on 6–7 December. His programme also included meetings with the First Deputy Speaker Ewa Thalén Finné (Moderate Party) and the Third Deputy Speaker Esabelle Dingizian (Green party).

The Speaker of the Riksdag Urban Ahlin met the Georgian Speaker, or Chairman of the Georgian Parliament, together with his delegation, for a meeting in which members from the Committee on Foreign Affairs and the Committee on Justice also participated.

Chairman Kobakhizde also met the First Deputy Speaker Eva Thalén Finné (Moderate Party) and members from the Parliamentary Swedish-Georgian Friendship Association. The guests also met the Third Deputy Speaker Esabelle Dingizian (Green Party) for a meeting on gender equality in the Riksdag.

The purpose of Chairman Kobakhizde's visit to the Riksdag included speaking about issues such as gender equality, foreign policy, Georgia's relations with the EU, reform efforts and the regional situation.

In addition to his programme at the Riksdag, Chairman Kobakhizde received an audience with H.M. Carl XVI Gustaf and met the Minister for Foreign Affairs Margot Wallström (Social Democratic Party) and Sida Director-General Carin Jämtin. He also travelled to Uppsala, where he was received by the Chair of the Municipal Council Carl Lindberg (Social Democratic Party) and visited the Uppsala Innovation Centre.
