The 2016/17 Riksdag session will open at 2 p.m. on Tuesday 13 September. All journalists wishing to attend the ceremony or to visit the Riksdag buildings on that day must apply for media accreditation for the Riksdag. The closing date for photographers wishing to be allocated to photo locations is 5 p.m. on 8 September. The closing date for journalists and photographers without a photo location is 12 noon on 12 September.
11 a.m. Roll-call
Roll-call of the members of the Riksdag in the Chamber.
1 p.m. Music and singing when the entrance to Riksplan opens
The Central Band of the Swedish Army will perform and the Grenadiers of the Life Guards will be on parade at Riksplan. In the East Wing of the Riksdag, the Kedjan Folk Dance Society and Solna Scout Group will parade with flags of the Swedish provinces on the Grand Stairway accompanied by songs performed by the Erik Westberg Vokalensemble Choir from Piteå.
1 p.m. The guests arrive
The members of the Riksdag and specially invited guests will arrive at 1 p.m. The members of the Royal Family will travel in procession from the Royal Palace and will arrive at Riksplan shortly before 2 p.m. where they will be met by the Speaker. The Speaker, the members of the Royal Family, the Prime Minister and others will make their way together via the Grand Stairway to the Chamber.
2 p.m. Ceremony in the Chamber
Trumpeters from the Mounted Band of the Royal Lifeguards will play while the Chamber fills up. At the request of the Speaker, King Carl XVI Gustaf will declare the 2016/17 Riksdag session open. Prime Minister Stefan Löfven (Social Democratic Party) will then read the Statement of Government Policy. The programme in the Chamber also includes the Royal Anthem, music by Janne Schaffer, the National Anthem and exit music.
After the ceremony, the Speaker will host a reception in the Grand Gallery for members of the Riksdag and invited guests. The reception is open to the media.
This year, the opening of the Riksdag session also has a regional theme. This year, the focus will be on northern Norrland, and more specifically on the counties of Norrbotten, Västerbotten, Jämtland and Ångermanland. The theme can be seen in the programme, the food served and the decorations.

The ceremony can be followed live via the Riksdag webcast service and on Swedish television (SVT).
Media accreditation and photo locations during the opening
All journalists wishing to attend the ceremony or to visit the Riksdag buildings on that day must apply for media accreditation for the Riksdag. Journalists and photographers who do not have Riksdag accreditation need to apply for temporary accreditation to the opening of the Riksdag session.
The closing date for photographers wishing to be allocated to photo locations is 5 p.m. on 8 September. The closing date for journalists and photographers without a photo location is 12 noon on Monday 12 September. Please note that no applications may be submitted after this time.

Concert at the Stockholm Concert Hall
In cooperation with the Stockholm Concert Hall, members of the Riksdag and guests are invited to a concert beginning at 7 p.m. A photo location will be set up outside the Concert Hall so that guests may be photographed on arrival (from 6 p.m. onwards). Photographers wishing to take photographs outside the Stockholm Concert Hall also require accreditation for the Riksdag. The concert will be broadcast live on Swedish Television (SVT).
Storkyrkan and the Humanists
