On 2-5 May, the Third Deputy Speaker Esabelle Dingizian (Green Party) visited Amman, Jordan. During her visit, Esabelle Dingizian participated in the Women in Parliament Global Forum Summit and also took part in various meetings outside the conference.
The theme of the conference Women in Parliament Global Forum Summit 2016 was "Women in Politics: Fast Forward".
"It is important to work with gender equality issues in a global perspective. I spoke to the Speaker of the House of Representatives about gender equality in the work of parliament, and during our visit we also discussed such issues as sustainability and water projects", says Esabelle Dingizian.
In addition to the conference, there were various meetings and visits to discuss the conflict in Syria, refugee issues, regional issues, development cooperation, human rights, sustainable development and gender equality.
Esabelle Dingizian had a round-table discussion with women parliamentarians from Jordan and a meeting with Atef Tarawneh, Speaker of Jordan's House of Representatives. Also on the agenda was a study visit to the Jordan Valley with the organisation EcoPeace, which works with environmental issues and sustainable regional development in Jordan, Palestine and Israel, as well as a visit to the Kvinna till Kvinna (Women to Women) Foundation in Amman.
Member of the Riksdag Agneta Gille (Social Democratic Party) and Minister for Gender Equality Åsa Regner also participated in the Women in Parliament Global Forum.
