Sweden can inter into a memorandum of understanding with NATO. The Riksdag voted in favour of the Government's proposal.
Sweden signed a memorandum of understanding with NATO concerning host nation support on 4 September 2014. The agreement should make it easier to make practical preparations, also known as host nation support, to enable foreign units to operate within Swedish borders.
Host nation support may be needed, for example, for exercises, crises or military operations.
The agreement will not start to apply until Sweden has notified NATO that certain necessary measures have been taken. The Riksdag voted in favour of Government's proposed agreement.
