The Opening of the Riksdag session 2009/10

Tuesday 15 September 2 p.m.


On Tuesday, the 2009/10 Riksdag session opened with pomp and circumstance. A new feature this year was that the public could watch the opening on a large screen at Mynttorget in the Old Town in Stockholm.
 
At the request of the Speaker Per Westerberg, King Carl XVI Gustaf declared the Riksdag session open. The Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt (Moderate Party) then delivered the Statement of Government Policy.

For the first time ever the public could follow the opening on a large screen at Mynttorget in the Old Town. The Speaker welcomed the public and the Mounted Band of the Royal Lifeguard performed.
