Technology

The Riksdag has its own TV broadcast service for use by television companies. In the Riksdag, journalists can connect to the Internet via a wireless network or regular computer sockets.

The Riksdag TV broadcast service

The Riksdag has its own TV production service. The same technology is used for internal and external television broadcasts and for webcasts. Sound and pictures from meetings in the Chamber, the former first and second chambers, the Skandia Room and the press centre are sent to the Kaknäs TV Tower. At present there is capacity for the simultaneous transmission of two different audio and video streams.

All broadcasting companies can link up to this service and broadcast from the Riksdag free of charge in their own programmes.

Debates in the Chamber and public committee hearings are broadcast on the webcast service.

Webcasts

Swedish Television (SVT) broadcasts from major debates, most public committee hearings and certain press conferences.

The media archive

All sound recordings of debates in the Riksdag since 1966 have been digitised and are available on order.

  • For sound files from 1966-1999, please contact the Riksdag Library, tel: 020-555 000 (in Sweden only).

  • For sound and picture files from the year 2000 onwards, please contact Helpdesk, tel: +46-8-786 57 57.

Services for external TV teams

Portable TV cameras can be connected to the media network:

  • in the Press Lounge on floor 7 of the west wing;
  • in the press conference room on floor 5 of the west wing;
  • by the marble table in the Bank Hall;
  • outside the former first and second chambers on floor 5 of the east wing.

Control panels for connection to OB vans that can be parked at Riksplan are situated on the first floor of the east wing.

Internet connections - wireless network

A wireless network - RDF Guest WLAN - is available in some parts of the Riksdag. Journalists with ongoing accreditation to the Riksdag can receive a user name and password in the Press Foyer on floor 7 of the west wing, or from the information desk in the Bank Hall on floor 2 of the west wing.

Journalists with temporary accreditation who want to use the wireless Internet should notify the person they are visiting in advance. Login data and visitor's badges can then be collected from the security guards at the entrance.

Internet connections - cable connections

Cable connections are available in the following locations:

  • the Press Lounge on floor 7 of the west wing has two connections;
  • the semicircle next to the Press Lounge on floor 7 of the west wing has two connections;
  • the press centre in the Chamber Foyer on floor 5 of the west wing;
  • the Skåne and Lappland meeting rooms on floor 2 of the west wing both have computer sockets.

Computers are automatically assigned an IP address when connected to an external socket.
