Members of European Union and candidate country parliaments gathered at the Riksdag to discuss current European issues over the course of a two-day meeting. During the COSAC meeting issues such as the economic crisis, the climate, the transparency of EU activities and the Stockholm Programme on migration, asylum and police matters were discussed. This meeting is the largest to be held in the Riksdag during Sweden’s EU Presidency period. A total of 270 guests attended including the Prime Minister of Sweden, Fredrik Reinfeldt (Mod) and Margot Wallström, Vice President of the European Commission. Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden was also present.
COSAC (Conference of Community and European Affairs Committees of Parliaments of the European Union) is a meeting place for the parliamentary committees responsible for EU issues in the EU member states. The Riksdag was represented by its Committee on European Union Affairs.
