Conference for chairs of parliamentary finance and budget committees

Sunday 6 September – Monday 7 September

 

The Committee on Finance hosted a meeting of parliamentarians from EU member states and candidate countries at the Riksdag on Monday. Sustainable finances and economic aspects of climate change were the subjects of the meeting, which was open to the public. 
 
The speakers were from the academic world, the Ministry of Finance, the National Audit Office and international organisations.

The tasks of the Presidency

The EU member states take turns to hold the Presidency. The presidency rotates every six months. During the Swedish Presidency, the Government has the following tasks:
  • to lead the European Council
  • to lead the Council of Ministers
  • to represent the EU in its dealings with other countries
