The Speaker Urban Ahlin made an official visit to Iceland on 31 January – 3 February together with a delegation from the Riksdag. During the visit, the Speaker and the delegation met the Speaker of the Allthing Steingrímur J. Sigfússon, President Guðni Th. Jóhannesson and the Prime Minister Katrin Jakobsdóttir.
The programme included meetings with members of the Allthing, the Minister of Transport and Local Government Sigurður Ingi Jóhannsson and the Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Iceland Arnór Sighvatsson. During various meetings, there were discussions about Iceland's recovery after the financial crisis, the building boom in Iceland, bilateral and Nordic parliamentary relations, security issues, the environment and sustainability and culture.
The delegation also travelled to the west of Iceland where they met regional representatives for meetings on business, education and tourism.
The delegation consisted of the Riksdag members Gunilla Carlsson (Social Democratic Party), Åsa Coenraads (Moderate Party), Aron Emilsson (Sweden Democrats) and Staffan Danielsson (Centre Party) and the Deputy Secretary-General of the Riksdag Claes Mårtensson.
