Deputy Speakers

There are three Deputy Speakers in the Riksdag. Together with the Speaker they are the presiding officers of the Riksdag. Kenneth G Forslund (Social Democratic Party) is First Deputy Speaker, Julia Kronlid (Sweden Democrats) Second Deputy Speaker and Kerstin Lundgren (Centre Party) is Third Deputy Speaker.

The Speaker and the Deputy Speakers meet on a regular basis to discuss issues relating to the management of parliamentary business. The Deputy Speakers take turns in presiding over the meetings of the Chamber and work of the Riksdag together with the Speaker. They also represent the Riksdag in various contexts.

Unlike the Speaker, the Deputy Speakers can vote even when chairing meetings of the Chamber. However, they are not permitted to take part in debates when chairing a meeting. Otherwise they contribute to the work of the Riksdag under the same conditions as other members.
